Meet Linda!

Meet Linda Howard Hiserman!

Linda is an award-winning songwriter, composer, and member of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Linda served 15 years on the Board of Directors for the Songwriters Association of Washington, both as Volunteer Coordinator and then as Vice-President. She is also a contributing member of the Childrens Music Network.

She writes and composes multiple genres of music including Children's, Educational, Theatre, Contemporary Christian, Country and Adult Contemporary and songs for Special Occasions.

She has an extensive music career including her original work writing and producing an educational third-grade social studies program titled, "Did You Know?" which has been purchased by Virginia elementary schools for over 12 years.

Linda Howard Hiserman is a native of Leesburg, VA and received a B.A. degree from Radford University. She has two wonderful children, Brett and Amy, and a loving, supportive family.

Projects

  • When Joe Gibbs returned to coach the Redskins, Linda wrote a country song titled, "A Tribute to Joe Gibbs". This song was played on two local radio stations and Linda was interviewed live on the air.
  • Composed two original songs for the 250th celebration of Loudoun County, Virginia.
  • Wrote and dedicated a song titled "Pray" to honor the fallen Virginia Tech students. This song was added to the Virginia Tech Commemorative Archives.
  • Composed a song for a terminally ill child through an organization titled, "Songs of Love".
  • Wrote an original song for women turning 50, titled, "Wow! 50's Great!" .
  • Linda had the opportunity to travel with her daughter to Bay St. Louis Mississippi to assist in Katrina relief efforts through her local church. Deeply moved by the experience, upon her return she composed a song titled "Everyday Angels" which expressed the appreciation and perseverence by the people that survived the horrific storm and the work that was being done to assist them. The song was recorded by Lisa Gregg, a former back-up singer for Faith Hill.

Productions

  • Linda founded her own publishing company How High Publishing where she marketed an educational program titled "Did You Know?" to local Virginia elementary schools. She produced and directed "Did You Know?" two consecutive years at a local Fairfax County elementary school. This program has been selling across Virginia for over 12 years.
  • She composed 15 original songs and co-wrote the script for an original fairytale musical, titled "Helena's Wish" which placed in the top 12 shows out of 100 entries in a worldwide contest held by Mercury Musicals in London, England.
  • Linda and a friend created a program titled "Movin' Groovin' Kids" which introduced children to different cultures of music. They performed this program in private schools across Northern Virginia.

More Accomplishments

  • Won multiple awards from The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP)
  • Commissioned by the American Music Stage to write and compose original material for "The Sleeping Beauty Musical", performed at Ernst Theatre in Annandale, VA.
  • Won first place for her song, "I Turned Into A Pizza" in a National songwriting contest. This song is featured on the "We Are the Shining Stars" CD.
  • Won second place for her song, "Cooked Up A Memory" in an International songwriting contest.
  • These are just an example of the many awards Linda has to her credit.
